Yeah, three to five years' waiting time is unreasonable on its face.

1. The EU is right to be cautious about this discussion, if it's to be had at all. Having been burned by Brexit itself...well!

3. Sounds like good news for working people there. Stability is helpful.

4. That commentary echoes a lot of my current thinking about such matters. Of course, caution in applying that thinking is still called for.

I am grumpy and tactless when interrupted, but retain good awareness of my surroundings, and I dont get too obssessed or yammer on and on about stuff to people who aren't interested. I am also perfectly fine (mostly) to talk to people, really don't have much ruminatory anxiety, and my need for action tends to win over analysis paralysis. Some of this is learned and practiced behaviour.

To what extent do you buy into monotropism as a model with explanatory power for autism?

Hmm. No I don't think I buy in at all. Sensibly, there is only time in life to have a few deep hobbies / interests and some people optimise that better than others.

Some of us try too hard to have too many hobbies and some get easily sidetracked and skip from interest to interest - the combo of autism and ADHD is kinda good at "hiding" both...

I also don't find, the questionnaire is so spectacular, for example, who DOES find it easy to learn stuff in which they have no interest? Who actually copes nicely with being interrupted, surely anxiety/rumination (even excessive) is a seperate axis from autism. etc etc. Surely wveryone can be a bit of a bore to others about hobbies (like even kids, sport, tv shows..) and obnviously we prefer conversation woth people who are also interested (else WTF DO you talk about? You cant do small talk as 100% of human interaction!) The questions on "obsessiveness" and getting deeply into things are indiciative of SOMETHING, but to me, its just "ability to concentrate on complex tasks". Surely thats not indicative of much except itself?

Also, I seem to test out pretty much allotropic ... which may be the case, but I am hardly psychologically "average" (except within a computer / music geek community).

But what I think is logical or sensible ot obvious behaviour may be too shaped by my metal makeup or the fact that I have hung out pretty much ONLY with geeks (of mayn sorts), bith at work or at play since I was 17...

I feel like the questionnaire is worded in such a way as to make me want to agree with most of the statements, though if I give them enough thought, I don't necessarily agree. The two "rarely" questions are the only ones which seem to be the other way around. I chose "neither agree nor disagree" for several of the questions, yet feel like maybe I still answered more in the affirmative than is accurate.
