I have a thing for strong, controlling women who know what they want, are self-reliant, intelligent and don't take shit from anyone.

On reflection, this is all Servalan's fault.

I hope to god this means nothing at all to most of you.

Ah, Servalan!

Despite my being very young when Blake's 7 was on BBC [honest, I was young!], Servalan still holds a special place in my heart.

Maybe it was that plunging necklne, maybe it was cos she always looked like the ultimate sexual predator and she was gonna pounce on Travis any second but I was always mesmerised by her.

Still, I am over that now, aren't I?

What's your video night? sounds cool :)
Have YOU got Princess Mononoke?????

I work Chambers Street. Am hopeless at knowing places to drink in town - all big noisy pick up barns. Um. Devoid ideas. Er...

Why aren't you normally a pub person? What about the Elephant House on george IV Bridge - it's a cafe but they do wine?

No, I can't watch anime on my own. I start to worry about marking essays, or doing the washing up. This is why I see almost all my movies at the actual cinema- it's the only place I can actually give way to sensawunda.

(And WHY haven't you been to Spirited Away yet? (If you had we'd have been to the same 3 films in a row tho ..) It is absolutely rocking fantastic. setiously. I am not a manga fan and it is just -- so serene, so sad, so funny, and so poignant . all at once..)

Maximum confessions!!

Sadly, yes, this means quite a lot to me. Not only are some of my earliest tv memories about Blake's 7, but i've also met most of the cast.

Including the lovely, but mad as a bag of squirrels, Supreme Commander herself. She came up to see our local sci-fi group in Edinburgh. In November. And forgot to bring a coat...

But she rolls a mean joint from what I can remember.

given that i don't know you and ran across your journal through friendsfriends, I suspect i'm missing something. because this does not sound all that bad to me. in fact, it sounds rather preferable to preferring women who are weak, lack control, have no direction, lean on you all the time, and are stupid.

You can't have Servalan! I have first dibs. :-) I have a thing about crystal daggers in the back of the neck, and it's all her fault.

:-) You know, the first time I cut my hair really short, everybody thought of Servalan.

Cool character, but she was physically hopeless though. The same guy that did Shirley Bassey's dresses did her costumes, you know, maybe that was the problem.

I saw the actress on TV recently and she looks just the same (except her hair's gone grey).

Oh, and Avon was my childhood lust object. I mean, intelligent, selfish, scheming and dressed in black leather - what more could a girl ask for :-)

It means nothing to me!!! YAY!!!!

Well, I understand that blake's 7 existed. But my only real recollection of it involves Bill Cosby and a space tank. I think it was a comedy piss take. And I remember someone pointing it out to me later in life.

I remember being bitterly disappointed at how dull the Bill Cosby thing was thou. Perhaps in that way, Blake 7 has made me the cynical beast I am today! Then again, I'd blame other things... like never being able to find the right lego brick, or not being bought Optimus Prime by my parents, when I asked for him, and they said ok, then found out how much he cost. Or perhaps the numerous saved games of elite I lost due to fault 5.25" disks. God damn you universe!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, typing this is much better than working. Thanks for asking.

Adam

You know, up until now, I knew only Gay men who fancied Servalan.
(Is this the question about which you'd least like to be asked in public?)

In fact a couple of years ago, the unmistakable Poofcat was visiting me in London. Whilst cottaging at the Trocadereo, he ran into the lady herself on the escalators, approached her and got her autograph. Such a fanboy!

Also, the guy who played Avon - his wife runs his fanclub! Bizarre!
