That £400 year might be a bit of 'Up to £400' rather than an average saving...

However, the secondary effects of a widespread improvement in energy efficiency are missing from that news report: a 5% or 10% reduction in overall energy consumption might have been enough to mitigate the sharp 'spike' in prices when supply fell slightly behind demand.

Yeah, agreed on both points. We need to be increasing insulation in the long term and getting us to the point where we're not dependent on gas would be great.
