Wow on the translation, I'm torn. On the hand that does seem dishonest if done without the approval of the author. On the other it definitely made it a better book. I highly doubt it would've won the Hugo without those changes.

It seems profoundly unethical to deliberately change a work's outlook so much. I hope that Ken Liu's past translation work will be getting more scrutiny and that he isn't allowed to work without close review in the future.

I don't know whether we should be blaming the editors rather than the translator?

So one of the three (all male) author Guests of Honor at the just-elected Chinese Worldcon turns out to be an alarmingly belligerent Russian nationalist, and now another turns out to be a Chinese sexist.

Fascinating about the Three Body Problem, because the translation was still sexist as hell!

That's a shame, as it's in my to read pile. Not that I was going to get to it soon, but I was looking forward to it.
