I started to read the Spike article and got defensive when I saw "Far left and now far right cult" and I'm like - "Hey, just cuz you don't like it doesn't mean it's a cult!" Then I saw "Revolutionary Communist Party" and said "Ah, Avakianites, ok, yes, fair shot". I have not heard RCP is now "Far Right" I have to read this to find out more...

EDIT: Woops, looks like it's a specifically UK party called RCP, not the one we have in the US. Which is ALSO a very heavy cult-like group. Check that out sometime for a trip LOL.

It was in one of Eric Hoffer's books thirty years ago that I first came across the observation that a convinced Nazi could become a convinced Communist and vice versa, far more easily than either of them would become an indifferent centrist liberal (for older definitions of 'liberal'). Nothing in my own experience since then has indicated that he was wrong.

Oh yes, if you're an authoritarian who believes that The World Should Do What It's Told then exactly how you believe the government should control the people is less important than the people shutting up and doing what they're told.
