Belarus is basically going to get away with it.

Sadly yes. Airlines will even push back on turning their airspace as a no-fly zone; fuel expenses from longer flight paths are a more of a concern to shareholders than occasionally losing a passenger.

Especially because, according to what I've read, they're already avoiding flying over Russia.

The Lukashenko regime will try to get away with it. Putin will try to help them with that. Meanwhile...

Huh. Well, colour me surprised. That was a lot faster than what the EU's usual work rhythms usually allow. More substantial, too. Let's see how much of it sticks.

3) "not one of them are able to explain WHY they feel so strongly that women who are trans ought not to be allowed to use women-only spaces" Really? I've heard a few reasons put forward. I'm not saying they're good reasons, in fact they sound terrible, but they exist. One of them even makes an appearance later down in the thread, so I think this is a case of "don't rely on somebody's strongest opponents to fairly summarize their position," no matter which side you're on.

Which is a pity, actually, because I'd like to see what their answer is to this question which they never get asked: "If you're going to prohibit trans women from your women-only spaces, would you allow trans men? Because according to your definition ..." I know a few trans men, and to say they'd stick out dramatically in a crowd of cis women would be putting it mildly ...

Whereas most trans women do not stick out in a crowd of cis women.

Number of times I've been challenged in the ladies in nearly fifty years?

Zero.

An old friend of mine, Christian, is a trans guy and you get this thing about 'short men and tall women'.

He's 6'4" and I'm 5'6".....................

Thanks for reinforcing the point I'm trying to make here, which is that it's totally illusory to maintain, as some do, that a trans person looks like a member of the opposite sex in drag. I've met enough to know that they really don't. One trans man I know well looks a lot more like a typical man now than he ever did like a typical woman when he was presenting as one, though in his case even "presenting as a woman" is hardly a good description.
