The delights of parenthood: Sophia making friends

After dinner Sophia and I went for a wander to the end of the cul-de-sac, where the garages are.

There were a 5 kids aged about 6/7 playing a complex version of tag. They instantly tried to persuade Sophia to join in, and even though she was scared and didn't really understand the rules she let them persuade her to run back and forward with them.

An hour later *I* had somehow been roped into this, she was having a great time, and it was with great sadness that we said goodbye at 20:30 when everyone went home.

It makes me so happy to watch her making friends here.

How lovely. I have fond memories of playing outside with neighbours' kids as a child, it's nice that you're living somewhere she can do it.

My thoughts exactly. It was also a relief for my parents to know we were "safe" playing for hours on end outside or at someone's house (I also lived in a cul-de-sac).
