Date: 2021-01-20 01:17 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, if the police, shop owners and USDAW really wanted to deal with abuse by customers of shop staff they have all the legal tools they need, other than better employment rights.
So if Daniel Johnstone (a Labour MSP, A *LABOUR* MSP) really wanted to do something he'd legislate for e.g. mandatory 3 months off on full pay for any shop worker who was the victim of a second criminally abusive event in a twelve month period. That would focus the minds of shop owners about where the balance of risk, reward and responsibility lay for protecting their staff.
