Date: 2019-11-06 12:57 pm (UTC)Non-voters: I think that's very important to bear in mind. Also, people switching not directly, but between one big party, and parties trailing in a constituency. But I'm also scared: motivating people to vote often polarises messages as it's often more effective to sound confident and promise change, than to have workable policies
Tax loophole: I mean, yes. I guess everyone's just used to that. But we have a special lower rate of tax for people who own expensive things. That's not really a "loophole", it's more like "the deck is deliberately stacked all along". OTOH, I know a lot of professionals who work independently, definitely sound like it's a struggle to make it work compared to working for someone else: I'm not sure if that's my own bias, or people at different ends of a scale, or if I'm missing something.
Failing 15% of the time is the best way to learn: Oh gosh. I've often thought that you do need a balance, but hadn't thought to explicitly aim for the right proportion :)
Virginia: Oh good. America was overdue for *some* hope in lower-level elections.
