I love how easy music discovery is nowadays

I read this article a few days ago, finally got half an hour free just now, and have been listening to Billie Eilish non-stop since then.

Totally loving her voice, and her music in general.

And I _love_ how much there is out there, and that there's no ransacking obscure record shops, or having to work out what was worth paying money just to try listening to (which was basically my two options as a teenager, as nearly none of the music of the music I loved when I was younger got radio play). I can go from never having heard of someone to loving some of their music in 30 seconds.

Very rarely do I enjoy a modern pop music release bu Billie Eilish is on my radar-- particularly the bad guy song which you shared here. She kind of reminds of a younger Sia who is another artist that peaks my fancy despite being modern and popular.

We are not seeing her because she somehow got booked at Red Rocks, and sold out right away, but Red Rocks is a difficult, expensive venue on a good day so if you've only got a catalog of 4 songs that's a hard pass.
Florence and the Machine, at Red Rocks, in the snow was WORTH IT. $125 for 2 people.

In my teens (yes before t'internet) I had an uncanny knack to search out and discover a lot of awesome music, to the point where I look back and wonder how the heck did I know about this n that?? USA college radio, as well as going up to the Big City for the obscure record shops, and later, specialist zines were key.

Nowadays I agree I love that it's so much easier to find new music, but on the other hand, it has become so accessible that trawling through it all can feel more arduous as well as hit n miss. It's still great to discover a rewarding music vein to mine - currently I've been excavating the Independent Music Podcast.
