The article points out the main thing I like about this map, i.e. that most of the yellow bits are mountains. Although I can't help noticing that Lincolnshire looks relatively empty, but that must be more because it's too dull rather than because it's too mountainous.

I also I love how Lough Neagh and Strangford Lough (large bodies of water in NI) show up so brightly.

I'm curious about the data barf that created the weird sticky-out bit of yellow in the Bristol Channel.

This is worth a proper look in to, but I suspect there's less here to see than it may first appear. SFAICT it's a handful of potentially unfortunate retweets by a pretty active account. Using "infowars" here seems particularly unhelpful - there's no suggestion of a link to Infowars.

1 square km could be a shopping mall or a large parking lot, though. Unless they're counting areas with business but no housing as inhabited?

Who wants dresses with a sane skirt length as well as pockets?

Raises hand tentatively........

Me too. Sadly, when I checked the 2 prints I liked the most, the only sizes left were '0'. Alas.

The unoccupied parts of Lincolnshire are low, rather than high, like the unoccupied parts of Thamesside Essex and the side of the Severn. They would have had housing put on them if there was enough profit to be made on it, but they'd be flood risks, especially in the global warming future. We may see the return of the island of Lindsey.

The three features I like to put on maps of prehistoric or dark ages Britain to contextualise it are the high bits, the low wet bits, and the rivers. They are three things we know were there that we don't have to confuse matters by giving a name to.
