An Englishman, an Irishman, a Scotsman, 2 Germans, an Iranian, 7 Pakistanis, 3 Chinese girls and an American go into a pub.

What a fine example of an integrated society.

What a fine example of the domination of the British cultural hegemony, more like! Taking these beautiful ethnically diverse people and putting them in the "pub", with its implications of hundreds of years of cultural dominance and underlying overtones of alcoholism, violence, mysogeny and racism!

I note also that there seems to be only a token explicit reference to women, and furthermore that trans/othersexuals are entirely unrepresented in this group. As are South Americans and Africans, amongst other important groups.

Only if you're HITLER could this be a "fine example of an integrated society"!!!!

Englishman denotes a male
Irishman denotes a male
Scotsman denotes a male
German isn't gender specific

how odd.

I didn't make any such assumption. But your crypto-fascist ubermensch leanings are making themselves apparent by your failure to explicitly mention this in the original joke, demonstrating for all to see your evident belief that they should be ashamed of their gender identification and hide themselves "in the closet" instead of the reality that they are equal in status.

Of course the joke was aimed _at_ PC rather than being a product of someone trying to be PC.

I presume that was obvious :)

Did he program them into Fable, too?

Reminds me of two other jokes, which are:

1) Once there were two Chinese people...
...now look how many they are.

2) Q: How many ethnics does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: A variable but usually high number based on the perceived inefficiencies in that ethnic group's problem solving paradigm.

Fable, due to our intent and for certain pragmatic reasons, contains a large amount of political incorrectness as well as some things which might be considered politically correct, yet aren't, they're there because we think they're cool.

Let's take an example. The barman in the bar is a man. He has a bar with three areas for bar workers to pick up jugs of beer. All the bar workers are female. Only men come into the pub to chat and get drunk. The intentional reasons for this are that it's not a PC world, it's a fantasy setting and the call for rowdy men and wenchy barmaids is high. The pragmatic reason is that the male and female models have different bone structures and doing things this way mean we half the number of animations we need to do (no drunken rowdiness anims for the female model and vice versa).

We still have female heroes in the game and other gender-non-specificness but, in general, the game is quite sexist as it fits with the world we're trying to show in the setting we're trying to show it.

Not that you asked that, but it was on my mind :)

kinda like the canterbury tales, innit?
