Date: 2018-11-15 03:55 pm (UTC)What's the relationship between this proposal and the previously-discussed Chequers plan? Is it the same thing? Is it the same thing altered, and if so in what ways and by whom? Is it entirely new?

Date: 2018-11-15 04:08 pm (UTC)The Chequers Plan (or to give it it's official title "The future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union") is what we'll get to when we discuss the future trading relationship.
The Withdrawal Agreement is purely the "Here's how we divorce." agreement. Which includes a two-year transition period in which we can then discuss the future trading relationship. And be told (again, again, again) that Chequers isn't going to fly because it violates the four freedoms.
Or, at least, I think that's where we are. The UK was trying to get a detailed future statement included as part of the Withdrawal Agreement, but has now resigned itself to a few vague platitudes, from my understanding.
