I'm losing track now but if she arranged some kind of deal, doesn't that mean she caved to the EU on an Irish backstop, doesn't that dynamite her DUP deal with extreme prejudice?

Stupidly simple question about the Withdrawal Agreement just put before Parliament, one which I haven't seen addressed in any of the elementary explanations I've seen about it, even the ones that patiently explain that the EU is a customs union:

What's the relationship between this proposal and the previously-discussed Chequers plan? Is it the same thing? Is it the same thing altered, and if so in what ways and by whom? Is it entirely new?

The Chequers Plan (or to give it it's official title "The future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union") is what we'll get to when we discuss the future trading relationship.

The Withdrawal Agreement is purely the "Here's how we divorce." agreement. Which includes a two-year transition period in which we can then discuss the future trading relationship. And be told (again, again, again) that Chequers isn't going to fly because it violates the four freedoms.

Or, at least, I think that's where we are. The UK was trying to get a detailed future statement included as part of the Withdrawal Agreement, but has now resigned itself to a few vague platitudes, from my understanding.

Oh, no. With Brexit there are so many moving pieces that it's really easy to lose track of things.

Particularly with the speed things are moving at.

I know this is a really horrible thing to say in the UK, but Jacob Rees-Mogg actually looks like a Muppet. If you were designing a Muppet to look like a Tory, there it is, the perfect ready-to-go prototype. I would change out the glasses for a monocle though.

I am no fan of JRM but I don't understand how the second half of this sentence legitimises the first. I query whether you should judge someone else's motivations with such certainty.

If someone just likes wearing a costume, then that's fine. But JRM feels far more like dressing up in an offensive outfit as part of acting in an awful manner.

I'm not judging him on liking a nice hat, I'm judging him on the whole package, which includes the hat _because_ of the behaviour that goes with it.
