The US probably shouldn't build another coal plant, given the economics and the environmental impact but it wouldn't surprise me if the campaign rhetoric of the Republican party translated in to an attempt to sponsor new coal plants. Which will probably fail as many Republicans are ideologically opposed to state support or come from states with booming renewable industries.
