Anyone know of a good home for a pair of sofas?

Two red sofas. Free to anyone that wants them.

Charities won't touch them because they have cat scratches on them, and so they can't resell them.

Seems a shame when there are bound to be people out there who could do with a sofa.

Any suggestions?

You're in Edinburgh or somewhere, aren't you? In Cambridge we have Emmaus, which reconditions furniture.

Otherwise, refugee support organisations or women's refuges might have contacts. Or craigslist or gumtree.

Emmaus are our favourite furniture charity because they actually do repairs, and have furniture which is old but good, as opposed to "like new".

But we recently had bad passing furniture on: even local Emmaus were so oversubscribed they stopped taking imperfect things, and almost everywhere seemed oversubscribed for sofas. I don't quite know how, but it seems like, there just isn't demand for decent but not perfect sofas. (And people who DO need don't have transport for them.) Fingers crossed for someone who needs them getting hold of them somehow.

I did! Local person who works with autistic people, and had a client whose sofa had fallen apart.

It looks as though your local Freecycling group ( https://groups.freecycle.org/group/EdinburghUK/posts/all ) is active. If you can't find somebody currently looking for a sofa you could post them as available.

John Lewis will take them away and refurbish them for charity.

(At least, that's what John Lewis say. The guys who came to actually take ours were of the opinion that most of them get scrapped....)
