Most US women won't dine alone with opposite sex

Good point, it's interesting to know the actual figures. Although it sort of stands out that, a woman not dining along with Mike Pence is probably prioritising *her* safety over *her* career, which seems a lot more reasonable that when *he* is making that decision on her behalf (assuming he doesn't feel significantly threatened by the hypothetical female dining partners).

I would be interested to see people asked about the reverse. I was surprised to see that men were more "liberal" about mixed sex meetings, but then realised that that was about policing their own behaviour. I suspect the gap would narrow/change if men were asked if women should have mixed sex meetings (and vice versa).

Come to think of it, I also don't know if the summary reflects the exact wording of the original survey. It might be a case of:

A: Can a man and a woman have dinner together?
B: Duh, no!
A: What if they have a reason to do so? Like a business lunch?
B: Oh, well, duh, that would be ok. That's not what I meant.

Many points for etymology. Huh, BirdandMoon led me to believe Peacock Mantis Shrimp led the incorrectly named animal Olympics with a triple reversal, but now I suddenly realise I didn't see a citation for "not a shrimp" so I don't know if that's accurate.

Wikipedia says that "shrimp" doesn't have a precise definition, but that it loosely coincides with the order Decapoda. Mantis shrimp make up a different order, Stomatopoda, so "not a shrimp" makes sense -- at least if you're taking "shrimp" to mean "more closely related to other things called shrimp than to woodlice".
