Diet Update

Well, since dropping the carbohydrates again and getting more sleep, I now feel far, far better. In fact, despite havign a slight cold I feel better than I have in weeks.

Note to self: stop being an idiot and thinking that you can have "just one sweet thing". You can't. The occasional higher-carb savoury thing won't kill you, but sweet things are just death.

Cool. Mine's going fine too. Surviving the occasional drink (which is allowed) without it leading to eating terrible food (which leads on to more...)

I'm fit and strong and happy.

The Atkins diet would absolutely kill me. I NEED my noodles.

But go one day without a good walk, and I'm in a right state...

I can empathise with that! I really have to do some exercise most days, or I get miserable.

I think I'm just set up to be healthy and have had to try too hard in the past to keep up the unhealthy programmer lifestyle.

I LIKE vegetables. I feel a strong desire to exercise. I naturally walk or cycle and I always take the stairs (even with shopping). I don't like sweets/cakes/chocolate/biscuits/jam. I feel much better if I avoid caffeine and alcohol (though I do like them!). I'm not really fond of any other drugs.

It's the dogs. I always did do a lot of walking and cycling, particularly when I lived farther from Uni. Not so much anymore, but then, I now have a bicycle that needs fixing and is so heavy I can barely carry it down the stairs... but I'm out in the park every day with the dogs now, and it's become such a part of my routine that even if I do walk into town and back, I'll really want to go down to the park. Dogs are good. :)
I'm with you on the sweets-- just don't like 'em, or sweet sweet sweet drinks like Coke. Blasted high fructose corn syrup. I love veggies-- roasted aubergine, yum yum yum!-- and I prefer olive oil to butter... but try to take away my caffene and you will meet with stern resistance!
