Interesting that they equate "less stereotypically feminine" with being "less deferential", and note that it seems to be decreasing, without even suggesting that maybe "deferential" was imposed from without, and is not actually an inborn "feminine trait". Surprise, surprise!

I don't think they thought that "stereotypically feminine" would be in any way inborn. Most social researchers would react badly to any equating of "feminine" and "naturally female".
