Date: 2015-01-27 11:36 am (UTC)Fracking, oil sands and deep sea oil are the 3 most expensive means of recovering oil. With the cost Brent Crude falling through the floor with the Middle East flooding the market with cheap oil strategically sold at a price point undercutting the U.S. and OPEC controlled producers, fracking is likely to be purely academic at this point: it's really unlikely to become a reality until the price of oil makes it economically viable.
There are some really interesting politics going on and there are some Interesting Times coming our way. I suspect that objections to fracking may take a back seat to the wider economic troubles to come.
