In other news, yesterday I had a tooth taken out, and today I spent 8 hours in the first half of a Six Sigma course.

Both of these things were worthwhile, but the combination has left me completely collapsed. The hour and a half of "taking Noah home and then playing Super Mario 3D Land with him" has just about pushed me over the edge into "I am made of jello" status. I think an early night might be in order.

I sympathise with tooth stuff. I hope you recover soon.

I am a six sigma yellow belt(!)

Not because I wanted to be but because the business decided that _everyone_ had to go through white belt training - this I could understand. And then our particularly ambitious second line manager decided that every engineer in Europe had to do green belt training (I guess because he figured it would make him look good - not for any other tangible benefit) and then he asked for volunteers to do yellow belt training. There being next to no value in training six sigma in depth in an overworked engineering team with little time to stay on top of workload let alone taking time out to assist on black belt projects, no one volunteered so I got 'volunteered'. I completed the training some years ago and have _never_ had cause to use it since.

Six Sigma is one framework of many. It is useful, for sure, just to have that framework to approach things with. Just, we were trained to yellow belt for the sake of being trained - a manager's vanity project with no expectation of that training ever being made use off. We were never going to be 'called upon' to assist with a Six Sigma project (which is what the yellow belts were expected to do, elsewhere in the organisation). My experience of Six Sigma is tainted and biased as a result.
