If you _are_ going to insist on downloading/patching your own game, and it's gigabytes in size, then for goodness sake make it possible to use peer-to-peer downloading.
I am currently downloading SW:TOR for me and Julie and it's downloading 13GB for each of us (so far - probably more to come) rather than downloading it for one of us and spreading the load.

You can log in to a steam installed version of lotro with a ordinary turbine account.
