'Here is today' is a very good visualisation.

The 'rant' by the US politician is a thing of beauty. I watched it twice.

I used to use winamp... Now I use iTunes but only because (a) we have several iDevices in the house and (b) it keeps _everything_ in one place. But it's a horrid UI and it disables my laptop's keyboard backlights on exit.

Not sure how I feel about the 'cultural loophole' for cleanliness in the NHS. I'm thinking along the lines that folk are free to express faith in whatever the heck they like - as long it doesn't affect other people who don't want to be affected. Cleanliness in the NHS feels like it might carry a significant risk if everyone doesn't follow the same cleanliness rules?

Happy to see some debate if any of your flist wants to weigh in.

Smartphones are so widespread now that the predicted 'phone'-will-replace-'smartphone' has already happened amongst my friends and colleagues. Not me though. I'm still catching up, linguistically.

I came here following a link from [personal profile] supergee; you might want to reconsider that link to the "Muslim NHS" article - not only is it three years old, it also seems to have originated from a posting on a BNP website which was - well, about as accurate as you might expect the BNP to be on that particular topic. The Channel 4 blog debunking the assertion is here and the revised guidelines would appear to have originated following this 2008 case with NHS Trusts concerned about the risk of unfair dismissal claims in such circumstances.

I'm glad it's not true, too: I'm more disturbed by what it says about the Mail on Sunday that they'd use a source like that in the first place and then that it'd spread so effectively without people going, "Hang on a minute, does this actually sound likely?"

Shurely, 'less disreputable' would be more accurate ;->
