I'm still in the party because John Leech, the only MP I've actually campaigned for, has either voted against the government or abstained every time liberalism and the government have come into conflict, and because we have very, very good local councillors. And because when everything collapses, as it will do sooner rather than later, I want to help rebuild a properly liberal party from the rubble.

But I can't blame those who are leaving...

Oh yes. I've been cheered up significantly by discovering that my local MP (Mike Crockart) voted against. I just find it horribly dispiriting. I was at least partially sold the Lib-Dems on the basis that they were _dfferent_ that party policy was made by the membership, not the MPs. And I'm not at all convinced that this makes any difference at all.

Oh, Crockart's definitely one of the good ones.
Yes, policy is made by the membership, but MPs are allowed to vote against policy when that policy isn't in the manifesto and, for obvious reasons, this one wasn't. It's a complete mess.
