andrewducker: (how big?)

It's Padmini's birthday tonight, and people are meeting up to go for a meal, followed by seeing The Muppets at the cinema.

And I am going to spend the evening at home, feeling ill.

I was hoping, until about an hour ago, to drag myself over there. But having just made it to Sainsbury's and back (a 5 minute walk either way), I can safely say that (a) I wouldn't be in much state to enjoy it and (b) I would be making snuffling noises all the way through (and yes, I am dosed up with medicine).

I'm not happy about this, particularly as Ed's going to be up, and I haven't seen him in aaaages.

Not sure what to do with my time instead, as my brain isn't up to anything complex.

As secretly astoundingly artistic Ed?

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Andrew. I hope you feel better soon.

BTW - Your title to this post reminds me of what a person in AA once said:

"If you want sympathy it's in the dictionary between shit and syphilis."

I always thought that was a bit cold, but then, some people who first come into AA can be real whiners. (FYI - I was in recovery from 1990-1997)

yeah. It's only a start at best. But, as I have (eventually!) learned, sympathy is a vital accessory/prequel to any subsequent practical advice/help/etc. With most folks, wading straight in with the "do this" is not much good - the sympathy is the primer, then the advice.

When you're better make time to go see the movie as it has a few cameos you'll appreciate.

I can totally commiserate with you. I got ill on Friday night and have spent the entire weekend in a state of 'smelly-nasty-illness'.

As for things to do with your time, anything from the list of:

1) Make something
2) Read something
3) Understand something
4) Play something

As far as the last one goes, I can recommend Star Trek Online. It's quite good fun.

I really hope it's not what [livejournal.com profile] cori_gated, myself and m-g have been through (in reverse order - the latter retrieved it from nursery for us). It's an absolute killer. If it is, then the coughing is next and that just puts the icing on the cake.

Best advice: keep on the paracetamol, hot toddies and honey-lemon-glycerol linctus until you can breathe again.
