I don't understand why people get upset when Apple refuse to allow apps in their store. It's their store, they can do what they like with it. If people are putting resources into developing apps, they need to be aware of the risk that Apple will not allow it to go in the store.

Yeah, that's been Google's position for a while - 2.2 isn't designed to handle those kinds of resolutions.

All I want is a tablet, without mobile connectivity, for a reasonable price. I suspect it'll be at least £300 for something like that when they first appear, and more like £400. They'll come down though.

Yes, of course it's Apple's store, and they're free to do what they like. And I'm free to point out that I don't like it, and that I despise that way of working. It's why I have an Android phone, where I can isntall anything I like, from anywhere on the internet.

You and me both. At the moment the iPad is the only contender for me for no other reason than it's the only decent tablet around.

See above for why I shan't be getting an iPad, but even so I agree that there's no decent equivalent out there right now.

Also, I have no money. But in about 9 months time, the market will be a lot more settled, and I will!

Fair point on the App Store. I can't really make any decisive arguements against as I have an iPhone, but I am concerned about the completely inconsistent behavior displayed by the approval team and the App Store in general.

I've read comments at NPR about the Brazil story, and there probably should have been more emphasis on two other things the Brazilian government did-- slowing (stopping?) their increase of the money supply and pegging the real to the dollar. Still a fascinating story, and I'd like to know how the Minister of Finance who didn't know anything about economics (how did he get the job?) happened to choose sensible people who'd been working on the problem.

At this point, I'm also curious about how other countries dealt with bad inflation problems.

Yeah - you have to stop increasing the money supply and convince people that you'd done so. Sounds like the switch in currency names/currency peg did the latter, while actually stopping printing money did the former.

This is a long way from the first bluegrass Pink Floyd covers I've heard. I don't think that The Wall is a very good candidate for the treatment, though.
