I liked the metal singer round-up. I too would have been interested to hear her thoughts on Hetfield given he allegedly started out singing light opera.

Hee, when I made my wedding website I did an incredible amount of nesting tables (something like eighteen nested tables) and left notes to myself to help me tell them apart, which got increasingly more and more silly. It was fun.

His mum was an operatic singer, don't know if James himself ever tried to follow in her footsteps. I suspect his vocal abilities were possibly not quite up to the task.

Personally, I'd be interested to hear what Freidlander would have to say about Geoff Tate from Queensrÿche, Udo Dirkschneider from Accept, and James LaBrie from Dream Theater, and I would have liked to see a few female vocalists like Anneke Van Giersbergen, Alissa White-Gluz or Doro Pesch represented as well.

Funny, my memory is of him doing some himself but now you mention it I can't find it written down anywhere.

God, James LaBrie. He of the most painfully over-forced voice ever. I would like Dream Theater so much more if he wasn't their vocalist.

True. He always sounds too much like he's trying to be Jon Anderson (which is a no-hoper from the off, coz nobody is Jon Anderson!). He is a wonderfully accomplished singer and vocalist, but he just needs to loosen up and not try so hard.
