Hacking Mass Effect 3
Apr. 7th, 2013 10:32 amOne of the bits I hated about Mass Effect 2 was the scanning. Endless time spent clicking on planets and dragging cursors across it to find resources. It's not why I play games like that (or, frankly, pretty much any game). So when I discovered that there was a cheat button I could press to basically give me a massive wodge of the different kinds of resources without the scanning, I did it immediately.
ME3 is similar, in that you're scanning for various war assets to help you win the war. Except that they deliberately nerfed all of the resources by 50% unless you played multiplayer. And, frankly, they can fuck off. I have no objection to there being an optional multiplayer part of the game, but I'm not going to be forced to play it in order to win the single-player part of the game.
So the first thing I did was go here, and follow the instructions under War Assets to make finding them much easier, and the number of points they give you much higher. I could also tweak the guns, money, powers, etc. But I'm not going to, because that part of the game is actually fun, and a large part of the reason I'm playing in the first place!
