Saturday - woke at 7am, so I could be at Hugh's for 8:15, so I could get a lift from
spaj out to Linlithgow, there to spend the day being insulted in
1ee7 for my n00b skills, as we played our way through some old-skool Counter-Strike, Dawn of War, and AVP2, with a short break for archery, educational
whisky-drinking, and some 4-player Bomberman on the 360. It was everything you could possibly want from a LAN party, including far too many doritos.
I left them at 10:30, in the middle of a 6-marine, 1 alien, one predator slaughterfest, they were carrying on for the full 24 hours. Most amusing moment - Rob realising that the case of cola he'd bought on the way there was...caffiene free. Second most amusing moment - the screams from people (including me) when they find themselves face to face with an alien.
Sunday - woke at 10:30am, left Julie to sleep until midday while I caught up on Saturday's internets. Then we headed out to Rose Street in search of somewhere nice to have brunch. We actually ended up on George Street, at
Gourmet Burget Kitchen, where I had a delicious kiwi burger (beetroot, egg, and pineapple).
Then on to Princes Street, where we went to Urban Outfitters. We'd admired
the decor from the outside a couple of times, and wanted to see what it looked like from the inside. It looked great - like they'd got in a bunch of art students and handed each of them a chunk of the store to play with. And we actually ended up asking what the music was and then buying it from their CD rack...
Then on to the
Royal Scottish Academy show on The Mound. Which was well worth seeing - the forefront of emerging artist and architects showing off their latest work. There was a bunch of stuff that we didn't really click with, but an awful lot that was really well put together, and we'd recomment it, especially for the £3 it cost between us. If you get the chance between now and Wednesday then I highly recommend you drop by and take a look. We then polished it off with a pot of tea at the top of John Lewis, which has a gorgeous view across the city down to the Forth.
And then home, so that I could collapse for a bit, Julie could catch up with The Vampire Diaries, and then (when Come Dine With Me) is over, we'll watch the Dr Who from yesterday. Which has been getting the first mixed reviews of the season, so I'm feeling suitably trepidatious about it.
