Dinner with Ellie and Suze ce soir, then drank Suze's lovely Raspberry Vodka before heading out to "Bert's bar" for more drinks.

And then wandered into town so that Ellie could pick up the latest Potter opus. We passed the West End Waterstones, which was queuing up the street and around the corner, and were two thirds of the way to the East End one when we passed an open "The Works" with no queue at all, and dropped in, to find them selling the book for exactly the same price. Ellie bought one and I wandered onwards to find that the East End one had even bigger queues. So I laughed to myself and carried on homewards.

My copy, of course, arrives tomorrow morning. I hope.

Bride and groom at Doune Castle. Lovely ceremony bracketed by a falconry display and a bit of swordplay/kilt-construction.

The food was also better than any of the weddings I've been to recently, there was lots of it, and it was produced by serving wenches, so that's all good. Got to chat to a bunch of Stirling people that I don't see nearly often enough, dance with one of the bridesmaids and catch up with Seymour, the boss of my previous best job (before this one).

Things nearly went wrong at the very end, when our taxi failed to turn up and the company claimed we hadn't booked one at all, but luckily one of the other guests turned out to be heading in our direction and shared their taxi with us. Oh, and turned out to be the person who chooses the music you hear in the background in Eastenders - which has to be one of the strangest/coolest jobs I've bumped into recently.

Anyway - all in all it was a good day, and my very best wishes to the bride and groom - may they have a fantastic life together.
