Following the most successful implementation I think I've ever been involved in (not that there weren't problems, but there was nothing apocalyptic, just the usual collection of little things that always sneak through testing), in which 6 months of code finally made it out of the door, I've taken my first proper time off since Christmas. I've had long weekends since then, but this is the first time I've had a whole week off.

Mind you, I was kinda forced into it, because I'm only allowed to carry over 5 days and I had 10 left and the end of the holiday year is in a week's time.

But this is all besides the point - I'm in Birmingham for the weekend, for my cousin Toby's wedding, before coming home for a well deserved week of slouching. Not that I'm doing nothing - I've already been lined up by Lilian for Monday, Erin for Tuesday and Ellie for either Wednesday or Thursday. In any case it'll be nice to back off, get some perspective and spend a week not thinking about code...

This happens a lot. I slave away over stuff, get myself into an unhealthy pattern of not enough sleep and too much time thrashing about for things to make me happy (many of which seem to involve even less sleep) and then when I visit my parents I end up going to bed at 10pm and finding myself refreshed, with more perspective and generally happier. Also, my skin clears up.

Need to find some way of hanging onto this when I come back this time.
