Green Death Slime
Aug. 16th, 2002 08:48 pmIt's funny, but I've got at least 6 items in my inbox all marked "talk about this on lj" and I really can't face talking about any of them. I've got a nose that alternated between being blocked and being as far from unblocked as you can get (in fact the only word I can think of that really fits is 'flowing'), I haven't had enough sleep recently and I'm fed up with trying to get Age of Kings working from behind NAT.
While I wait for Mike's friend Richard to download a 4MB patch over a slooow connection, I took a look at Kartoo, a search engine. It's extremely pretty. Of course, like all engines that aren't google, the results aren't perfect and it's too fiddly. I like graphical representations of doohickeys, etc., but what I really want out of a search engine is a link to somewhere that is less of a search engine and more of a final destination.
Meanwhile, Nathan's trying to persuade me I ought to work for myself, but as I'm replying, I like working for other people - they handle all of the customer facing, debt collecting, advertising, accounting, etc. and leave me alone to program, which is, after all, what I enjoy.
Which reminds me, go and look at this, whistle to yourself and say "Look at the lighting on that.
I'm going to stop typing now, before I look completely senile, and go get some supper (lots of cold meat and salad in the fridge). Ta ta you lovely, lovely people.
