I have only this last year managed to say the word 'penis' without wanting to immediately die of embarrassment. I can say 'willy' no problem, though.

Technically they shouldn't be using the word vagina because it's designed to look like the outer genitalia, not the inner (vagina). However, I suspect that getting people to use the word cunt would be even more of an uphill struggle.

I was about to make this same point... I think vagina is going to eventually come to mean all female genitalia because SO many people just don't know it doesn't already. I've seen serious blog discussions over what a mother should teach a female child to call her bits while her brother refers to his willy, and well educated people chiming in to say "just use the correct anatomical term, have her say vagina...".

Yes! I thought this is what was meant above. As in 'why are people incapable of using the word "vagina" CORRECTLY?' That mouse is clearly designed to look (a bit) like labia. Calling the whole deal a vagina is kind of like calling a guy's penis and balls a 'glans' or something, nu?

Facebook chat has always been Jabber. Or at least for a very long time -- Adium has offered it as a possible connection type for ages.

There's been a plugin for Facebook for ages - but it was using their proprietary stuff, not Jabber. They made a big announcement about this a couple of days ago.

I'm fairly sure I was informed they were 'bits', before the detailed description, but I don't remember any suggestion that vagina encompassed the lot. I suspect that in the vernacular (not parents certainly) the closest my high-school peers got to describing female genetalia as a whole was 'fanny', although it's not my favourite word by quite a stretch.

That said, I'm 28 & while I'd like to think I'm a young'un, I'm probably pushing it & things have no doubt moved on.
