Very cool! This'll be *fantastic* once it works a bit better.

Their conference paper on this looks to be worth a read.

I saw a cheap 3D scanning kit based on a webcam plus a handheld line-laser, at ECA the other day, but I didn't get to see it in use. I might see if they've got one I could try in the Anarkik3D office, they seem to be doing some kind of joint marketing thing with them...

I've had a go at something similar - a webcam, a line laser, and free app called David-laserscanner:

It worked reasonably well, but you did have to print out a magic background to stand your object in front of.
