I saw a cheap 3D scanning kit based on a webcam plus a handheld line-laser, at ECA the other day, but I didn't get to see it in use. I might see if they've got one I could try in the Anarkik3D office, they seem to be doing some kind of joint marketing thing with them...

It worked reasonably well, but you did have to print out a magic background to stand your object in front of.
