That female viagra thing is such bullshit. It's just a serotonin suppressor, which means that it uses the same mechanisms as anti-depressants (actually, it is an anti-depressant). It is *nothing* to do with viagra and is a mood modifier.

And the article makes all of that entirely clear, doesn't it?

It's purely a term to get people's attention - like adding "-gate" on the end of scandals, despite none of them having anything to do with gates.

It's been widely reported with a varying level of emphasis on those points. The talking-point that these articles are selling - and that people are walking away with - is "female viagra" which is dishonest.

The description of it as "viagra like" made me want to punch someone.

I'd like them to describe exactly what directly mechanical effect it was having on which erectile tissue to make it "viagra like".
