I'm sure he announced his retirement a few years ago after his accident - Did he change his mind?

Seems to have written a couple of books and a collection of short stories. I don't think he feels the same drive to write he used to, but he's still doing it.

The driver died a few months later (really). There was no sign of foul play, but he seemed strangely frightened

I heard this, but surely if he'd been keeping up to date on his king reading he'd have looked slightly bored and maybe a bit annoyed he was still paying for them. And that was before the accident!!!
