My brother's considering getting Wii Fit or Wii Active.

Anyone got any experience with them?

Comments answering "Why doesn't he just go jogging/whatever" are not welcome :-p

I have got a Wii Fit and it is very good fun. However, I don't get much use out of it. I thought I would be able to dip into it more but I think you need to give yourself a proper chunk of time because a) you will probably want to do it in gym clothes (trainers and loose fiting clothes and b) you need a decent space so that usually involves a bit of tidying.

Fit is a bit misleading because it isn't going to give you a massive cardio-vascular workout (although hula-ing is good). However, the yoga and strength exercises are very good for a home workout.

Wii Fit has been jolly good fun, and if I had done it a bit more over the last year my back probably would not have seized up last week.

I got a Wii Fit about ten days ago and am really liking it. Have used it some every day and find it very motivating to be able to track my progress and see how I do on specific exercises with such accuracy. If your brother is already quite fit, it may not be difficult enough for him, but I find 40 minutes on it feels like I have had a good workout without wanting to die. I was recommended EA Active for "proper" exercise and have bought it but it came a few days ago and I have been too busy to try it out yet. I get the impression it offers a much more serious workout and would probably better suit someone who is already quite fit.

The Wii Fit is great. I don't think it is any good if you want it for a fitness regime, but for playing silly games it is incredible fun.

Yup

I got one ages ago.. Canoot and myself, actualy planned it as part of a diet ( very easy diet ) and excersise thing.. we did 30 mins a day..

for about a month, before i started using it less and less... she continued.. I lost nearly half a stone in that time. most down to the excercise..

It can give you quite a heavy workout, but you have to understand the things its actualy trying to do to you, and as I found you will try and avoid the ones you don't like, and they are usualy the ones that are more usefull..

I bought one for my mum too, and got good feedback from her too...

key things to note.

Best to do it with a freind.. you will do more, you will get competative, and you will not notice till the next day you actualy excercised.

you should do all the excersises and try not to miss any out, or you won't get the full work out.

be prepared, it takes the piss.. Last time nat was on it, it asked her if I was o.k. since i hadn't been near it for over a month, also, the wii mii growes when i get on it, and it screams in pain when I step on the board..

for 80 quid, do it.. do it now, and make everyone you know do it with you!

Why doesn't he just whatever? :P

I think the Wii Fit's stretching and yoga exercise work out pretty well if used regularly. I do see improvement in my physical health when I do so. Now I just need the Wii Drill Instructor, which will yell at me in the morning and get me to keep using my Wii Fit on a regular basis.*

*3-week trip to Japan both interrupted my regime and pointed out that if I moved there and used a Wii Fit, I'll be punching holes in the ceiling and walls of most Japanese flats.

Yeah, the more painful stuff seem to be the most productive. "3 reps? Heck, I'll do 6!" Except I'm dying after the second rep.
