  Asshat radio hosts in California went on a half hour tirade against transgender youth.
  
  Ten major companies (including AT&T, McDonald's and Bank of America) pull their ads.
  
  It's fantastic that these companies have policies to deal with this. Definitely a sign of an improving world.

I really hate all these cod science "you are happier and live longer if you are in a good, preferably hetero, relationship having great sex" I might as well just go and kill myself now and save the universe the trouble of wearing me down into an early grave.

Oh and I can't even get started ranting about the fish. Once you've removed an entire branch of life, and a pretty important one at that, it won't take long for the entire tree to die.

Two things. First, that article on Blaming has already disappeared, as it looks like that journal has been deleted.

Second, I think that 90% fish statistic is kinda misleading. The article is referring primarily to the atlantic cod stocks, which did get depleted that badly, more than that badly, and are one of the primary reasons the fishing industry was restructured so we won't do that again. It isn't perfect yet, but the industry is changing so that we won't do to any other species what we did to the cod.

From what I was reading, and watching, what happened to the cod is something called a trophic cascade. Fish stocks will replenish themselves incredibly quickly, but only if their position in the ecosystem remains stable. The cod were overfished for so long that they under went said trophic cascade (probably), and lost their status as a dominant predator fish, allowing their prey to become predators in their wake. As a result, there is speculation that the cod stocks will not recover.
