Really?

1) Teacher goes to slap pupil.
2) All the other pupils point their cameras at the teacher.
3) The teacher stops, and looks nervously at the cameras.

That's what I can see but I'm not sure what the message is meant to be. Violence towards pupils is such a problem that they should all be constantly ready to record any action?

Its not how the future looks either because you don't see all the phones get confiscated and put in the broom cupboard.

I was linking it to things like the G20 riots, where the police used tactics that have worked flawlessly many times in the past, only to be completely wrongfooted when camera-phone footage showed them to be acting badly.

I find it strange that this argument is used by many of the same people who campaign against the ever increasing use of CCTV.

I agree. As a purely pragmatic argument (the government already has lots of power, we shouldn't let it accumular more) I can understand it. As a principled one it makes no sense to me.

With CCTV, I don't get to monitor the feed. And I don't know who's monitoring.
