None of the above, as so often

Much as my memories of the first few series have been sullied by the last two or three, it might turn out to be good! It's possible they'll have realised where they went so horribly, horribly wrong and be able to fix it...

It went wrong at the point that Rob Grant stopped writing and Doug Naylor was left doing it on his own. This coincided with the time when Rimmer left and was replaced by Kochanski.

Alas the new episodes are to be written & directed by Doug Naylor alone.

...ditto.

Although actually we recently re-watched all 8 series, and 7 and 8 were better than I remembered. It seems I only remembered the bad episodes from them.

The only episode worth seeing was the one with Pride-and-Prejudice-World. Everything else was excreable, in my opinion.

Also ditto, although I'm trying to be hopeful.

The thing that puts me off this revival, beyond the title (for some reason), is the silly no sets, no effects, special episode. That and the fact that the annoying woman who isn't Clare Grogan is no doubt going to be in it and ruining things again.

The last big huzzah was Legion in the 6th series if you ask my opinion, but nothing touched Red Dwarf back when it was good.

Where's the halfway option? I don't think not knowing what it is counts.

I *loved* the first 6 series, although I still maintain they never topped 1 and 2. The last two seasons felt like a betrayal of Shakespearean proportions.

Don't know if I can bear to watch the new stuff.

I love Red Dwarf, so please tell me this is all a sick joke.

I remember the last few series being crap (by comparison), but as [Bad username or site: woodpijn' / @ livejournal.com] said, perhaps if I rewatched them now I'd get a different view.

So is it really getting a new series? Or is this just another rumour? Do you have proof?

Kotchanski and Holly definitely aren't in the cast.
