Far better than I expected. Also: Miss Hartigan -> Brainy + Wicked = HOT.

I didn't think it was particularly one thing or the other. It wasn't bad exactly, but didn't have me on the edge of my seat at any point. I just don't like the new Cybermen I think...

If there had been a "predictably average" option, I would have clicked that.

The memory loss plot idea wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly a gripping episode (bored of cybermen now). In fact it was just that, merely an episode rather than worthy of a Christmas special. Given there are only 4 or so shows this year, I was hoping for a better quality story than that. Felt like a mid-season filler.

Utterly unastounding and I really wish Mr Davies would stop writing drivel.

Very average, and the only thing that really got my attention was a welcome Paul McGann appearance.

I had nothing invested in it coming to it, and nothing grabbed me watching it, barring the above. It's a concern that the rest of the specials will be similarly Not Very Special. Roll on Moffat.

i loved the appearance of the Iron Giant (even the weapons). The show was more predictable than others, but just a fair romp. That's all I expect from RTD anyway.
The Paul McGann appearance was very welcomed here as well.
Overall? Fun but nothing new but a brainpan on a cyberman with racing stripes. And wasn't that against there rules as well? Individuality? And cyber king when it should have been queen? why?
Okay, nuff said. Bring on the Moffat.

It was good in that we got to watch David Morrisey do some really awesome running around as an old/new style doctor. Beyond that, it was bad in that it was predictably evil and blah.

Meh, I thought it was much the best Christmas Special so far. Like all the others, it was even sillier than usual and ramped up the action. Unlike them, it didn't actually have me wincing regularly with the stupidity.

The memory-loss plot was done pretty well. The giant robot was delightful. The cybermen conveniently providing our heroes with a device that becomes capable of destroying them when you waffle about it fast enough was very RTD.

Probably at least as entertaining as the average episode, all told, and not so stupid that I was embarrassed to watch it with people who don't follow the series, which made a nice change.

Reading the other comments, they have fair points that the other Christmas specials have been a lot more cringe-worthy. I think this one had a lack of "ZOMFG END OF THE WORLD!!1" but it made up for that with GIANT ROBOT! I saw the plot device - that the doctor just had the wrong memory - miles away. I liked the furry cybercat things too.

On the whole, I think what really added to the experience was listening to my brother trying to explain Doctor Who to a foreign national who's only been in Britain a week.

I was really not impressed. It was fun, but not very good. Lots of stuff happened without much explanation or characterisation.

I did like Dervla Kirwan, though!

I hear the Easter special is a UNIT story.

I enjoyed it. I'd managed to avoid spoilers completely (remarkable in itself) and was therefore delighted with the doctor/not doctor plot and how it was played out.

Giant robot = win.

Bit unsure about the cybershades though!

As always, I find that if you have pre-conceived notions of a thing, you're pretty much always going to be disappointed. Best to go in with an open mind.

Ooh yes, I liked the cyberfurries. Although I would've liked it better if they had been explained in some way.
