A very simple kind of artificial intelligence

This page attempts to work out your gender from what sites you browse.  Apparently I'm 72% likely to be male and 28% likely to be female.  Which sounds about right.

It's purely based on statistical analysis of what genders go to what sites more often - but it amused me.

OK, they can only really check whether you've been to a named site by looking at whether a link to the base URL of that site is "visited" or not, rather than actually retrieving a list of where you've been. But it's still got quite a lot of potential for abuse.

Okay - the code looked to me like it was calling a URL with the list of sites you've visited. s that not right?

No, it creates an iframe and puts the URLs in there, then sees whether they're formatted as "visited" or "unvisited" links.

It said 60% female for me, which surprised me as I'm on my work machine, most of the history is techy articles, reference guides etc. But I guess it was only looking at a certain subset of sites so maybe not so weird.
