Cheers to [livejournal.com profile] theferrett for the following video:

It shows a new technology for resizing images in a way that doesn't distort them - it's quite, quite amazing - particularly the examples that allow you to remove existing features from the picture.

I've seen a few clips of what that thing can do maybe a few weeks ago? I am very impressed with it, I only hope its as simple as it looks :)

Amazing. Do this in real time with video, and you're heading towards what Vernor Vinge was implying with his reference to 'evocations' for low-bandwidth communications in A Fire Upon The Deep.

For that matter, this would have made Winston Smith's day job so much easier. Or those artists employed by the Kremlin to remove disfavoured Politburo members.

Er, and what's wrong with presenting your own work rather than hiring someone to give your presentation for you? (This is, as far as I can see, a video of a talk at the SIGGRAPH conference.)

it's very good, and I especially liked the use of Frank Oz for the presentation.

There was a thread on Slashdot about this a couple of days ago, if this is the SIGGRAPH thing.
