Just because the author writes it does mean it's canon -- but just because it's canon doesn't mean it's good.

Yeah, once the stories in my head become more fun for me than what's on the screen/page/console/etc., it's usually time for me to pack up and go home. I mean, I respect a medium when it totally Josses all my speculation -- but does it in a way that is awesome! (see: a lot of Buffy, the Xenosaga games) But if I feel the author has wailed away on the LAME! button, it's a different story.

...In conclusion, I have an embarrassing amount of sympathy for the brown-haired girl there.
