My election prediction

Bush will get in, because not enough people are that fed up with Bush.

Things will get worse, with Bush pushing rightwards and christianwards until so many people are fed up that the next election is a landslide for the Democrats.

This will change the face of US politics in 4 years time, with the populace at large being less trusting of any political party.

My prediction's here, second post...

http://flyingmice.com/cgi-bin/squidcgi/mbthread.pl/general/expand/19527

('tis a fun playhouse;)

Someone said that what those outside the US don't get about this election is that Americans are worried about security, not about Iraq. Looked at from that angle, no terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11 equals success for Bush.

Still, I think Kerry will win, as I'm sure enough Americans are worried about the course Bush is on to switch to Kerry, as Kerry has come across as competent and, in a goofy kind of way, likable. (Plus he's taller than Bush;)

I dunno. I recall about 3000 American civilians dying under the Bush administration. I don't like people that are "Oops! It won't happen again."

Well, going by the poll in my journal, Kerry's winning by a long shot (but since internationals can vote in it, it's likely skewed). Plus, the BoSox won, and the Redskins lost, so maybe the sports coincidences mean a victory for Kerry. 9_9

Have they already forgotten the anthrax letters?

Well, evidently they have...

Ahem, well I had... :-)

Quite a lot's happened in the last four years...

Fear not. Have a look at http://www.electoral-vote.com, the opinion polls just prior to the actual election have Kerry leading by 298 electoral votes to 231 (270 needed to be elected). I'm an optimistic Kerry supporter and will be out there, with my fellows, voting!

Well, I hope you are wrong, but I'm not confident that my alternative prediction is right.

with Bush pushing rightwards and christianwards

You know, if he really pressed Christianwards - love thy neighbour, turn the other cheek, love others, all the fundemental points of the faith - people would apprive of him a whole lot more.

What I suspect you mean is that he'll push more towards that odd, US brand of right wing pseudo Christianity that owes as much to christianity as Osama Bin Laden's version of jihad bears to Islam.

You know, there's something I often say, living smack-dab in the Bible belt...

"Lord, protect me from your followers." Christian mores, at their root, are pretty reasonable, even from a pagan perspective. "Don't be an @$$hole resonates with everyone..."

Bush and the neo-conservative movement seems to have picked up on the whole insquisitional aspect of Christianity, and that makes me sad and scared.

A rash prediction, just like the kind I make. But I think you're right (about this year's outcome, at any rate), and that Bush will squeak back after various challenges, disputed recounts, and dodgy judicial rulings -- just like last time.

Please, no. It would be too big an affront to my belief in humanity.

Adopt cynicism as a philosophy, it's a whole lot easier.

Yeh. *sigh* It's gonna suck.

[identity profile] perceval.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
well, if the resulting change is for the better - I hope JFK will win

Not that I'm American, but..

I really hope Bush gets booted out.

And then it'll be Mr Blair's turn. There's no way he's getting my vote.
