I suspect there will be a floor for cash until there's some equally simple alternative to cash-in-hand.

No one talks about surcharges paid by vendors on card transactions, but ultimately we do pay for the convenience.

I use my card a lot, as in "for everything including routine bills," because I want to pile up points. Without that incentive (old card), I didn't, not nearly as much. Groceries, anything in a small shop, many restaurants, I paid cash.

And vendors have to pay to handle cash too, in secure vaults, and paying in charges, and having someone to count it.

No Daleks?

I'm pleased but I think they will be back in Whitaker's second season.

I'm sure the fan base will be delighted with what sounds like a semi-reboot.

Cash

Cash is still useful for what I would call ritual payments: money under the pillow for the toothfairy; buying cookies from the Girl Guides when they go door to door; paying a child an allowance; buying 50/50 tickets at the fall fair.

While I was still working I usually paid cash for my lunch at the cafeteria because it was just too easy to spend too much using debit. I will use it at thrift stores or crafters' markets when I am using the physical limit in my wallet to prevent me from buying one of everything - naturally, if something is really good, I break my own rule.
