As you know I gave up all the things I gave up (primarily alcohol) with no formal support. And it is no "remission" , or "being in recovery" - it is just over. And there is zero "temptation" to guard against. Glad to see some hard numbers on this commonsense notion.

I think some people can just give up, and have no issues - and others have all sorts of physical responses. Like many things in life, I think there's a lot of personal variation.

One of my great loses in computing was a SEUCK game I made that featured various nieces and nephews doing stuff they were into at the time. It eventually failed to load due to SEUCK's C64 fast-loader (to tape) coming at a price for its speed. Plus nephews are not a very good keeper of backups... (Running the expensive C64 cassette drives into the ground was also part of the problem too, of course.)
