Video Night

Sana, Anna and Khi joined me and Erin for Cube, which was as tense as I remember (although the dialogue was slightly clunkier than I recall. I suspect the first time round I didn't noticed as I was far too busy remembering to breathe).

Then Sana left (she said she had to be up early, but as she's still online her excuse now sounds a tad feeble) and we watched Quills. Wonderful stuff - Geoffrey Rush is truly demonic and Michael Caine, Kate Winslet and Joachim Phoenix all give fantastic performances, even if the ending is a tad weak.

Definitely a good evening. It's so nice to relax with friends.

Cube is a great film, in fact I wrote a review of the DVD when it first came out which can be seen here (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=4&articleId=1433)

I've been pondering whether to watch Cube 2:Hypercube or not. I'd like it to be great, bt I have an awful suspicion it'll turn out to be another Highlander 2 :o/

Cube 2's less about the first's traps and so on, and more about this impossible 'other-dimensional' structure. It's not terrific but is worth seeing for some fun ideas.

Oooh, no, avoid. Not that I've seen it. But I loved "Cube", thought it was fantastic (saw "Cube" and "Pi" in the cinema during one week - a great week of cinema!), and think it deserves to remain a standalone, untainted classic. Cube 2 smacks of cash-in. I've read a few reviews, none have been favourable!

'Course, if you *do* watch it, let us know what you think!

Cube 2 is very good. It's similar on the surface but there's a definite sense of something else going on that is more developed than in the first one.

I went to see The Hulk (http://www.livejournal.com/users/yonmei/123304.html) instead....
