Can you really label people ignorant because they don't know the names of comic book artists? I think a better statement would be "I'm shocked by the lack of common interest with the people I know."

Writer or author, surely, not artist. I guess its easy to assume most people will have heard of him if you are in anyway into comics since he's been pretty damn important to the medium...

But not all of us are into comics . . . so his name rings no bells. I don't think it's ignorance to be unknowedgeable about things you aren't drawn to.
