Aye, Holly's favoure games when we got the Wii were Lego Batman and Speed Racer, so glad I got a replacement in the run up to Xmas, a year without a working one gave her so little to do on her own or with us.
Or he could make use of the startling powers of technology that's available to him, and have them both on the same disc, allowing you to pick what you want when you play it.
why would he do that when apparently the special editions are the REAL version?
I liked the "special" edition of Empire Strikes Back because, as I recall, it was mostly quite subtle. It wasn't INSERT HAM-FISTED CG COMEDY HERE like the other two
Oh, I agree that it'd be good. But the impression that George Lucas has given in interviews I've seen is that whatever the latest version of the Star Wars films is, that's the version he's happiest with and wants to be the one remembered as the "real" one.
I really like the Blade Runner final cut set that comes with all the versions of the film.
Although what we really need to do is an extended edition LotR day again sometime. I've watched the original versions all through again (probably twice thinking about it) since we did that, but I'm about ready to go the whole lot again. Thoughts?
Sorry about the late reply - managed to completely miss this in my inbox!
And yes - I'd love to do that again. Current plan would be to wait for the Blu-Ray editions to come out, and do it then. I suspect that'll be sometime in the next year.
It's pretty sad that someone who was, in their day, really good, has then spent half their career desperately riding on old glories and failing to do anything new. I mean, there are plenty of things I don't like about James Cameron, but at least he hopefully isn't planning to just spend the next two decades re-releasing Avatar over and over.
Rutger Hauer admits that his shit films don't matter because goddamit, he was in Blade Runner and he knows it was his finest hour, but he still goes on making the other films.
I don't actually own any of the star wars films on dvd, come to think of it. I bought two of the special editions on video and felt pretty ripped off with one of them. It's probably cheaper just to wait to the inevitable cinema rerelease when they're converted to immersive smell-o-3d-o-imax-aplexoscope in another few years.

Lego Star Wars complete, on the Wii.
I can kill Jar Jar as often as I like, and still get an idea of the plot. Still haven't seen 2 or 3. Will play them through properly soon.

And I've also played a fair chunk with Noah, who (at 4) seems to suit the play style perfectly.

A real decent Blu-Ray copy of Star Wars and Empire with the original scenes and the original stereo mix is something I'd be happy to pay money for.
But, I'm not laying down cash, again, just to end up screaming "Han shot first!" at the fucking screen.
