Further computer stuff

I've lodged an incident with HP, using slight-legalese to get across the fact that I know of the existence of the Sale of Goods Act (1979). I'll see what they come back with. I was pretty impressed that I got a phone call from an engineer within 5 minutes of submitting the form.

In the meantime I'm using a login on Julie's desktop, which is a quad-core box, and absolutely gorgeous. I want one, badly. But not this week, if it can be helped. I've been looking to see if I can get a dead version of my laptop, to use for spares, but nothing on eBay today.

Thanks for the advice from the various people yesterday - much appreciated.

Good luck :-)

If they're non-cooperative write them a letter. If they ignore the letter, take them to small claims court. They won't turn up, you will win and then you can get the money out of them.

In my totally imagined non researched or experienced world they do!

Go get 'em.

nothing that new, newest i have is a 6110 celery based system.

I've got all the tools and connectors if you need a hand getting stuff off the drive though.

I do think you may get somewhere! They are a big company and I do honestly think 18 months is insufficient time to expect a laptop to conk out and need replacing.

Stop lusting over julie's machine!

that's probably the difference between the gfx cards. Onboard with shared mem really do suck with games, even if the processor's got the clout to cope.
